Frank and Mary serve in partnership with a local ministry in Blantyre that has one main group of believers located in Blantyre, and (10) satellite groups located throughout Malawi. Our goal to open a Center of Hope building in Blantyre was accomplished in 2019. It is the main church and training center. The primary function and mission of Heart of Stephen Ministries (HSM) is that through servant leadership, this and future Center(s) of Hope will equip the local pastors to help meet both the spiritual and physical needs of their village or community. Further, each center will provide a place for educational programs, church leadership training, and food distribution. We also work with widows’ HIV/AIDS support groups in order to facilitate sustainable income projects, as well as ministering in many villages and remote areas of Malawi.
The current needs of the Center of Hope, Blantyre are to provide electricity and water. The electric utility and water lines are close, but need to be run to the building and the building needs to be wired for electricity. Further, the members of the church have started a pre-school which would also provide at least one meal a day for the children because for many of them it would be there only meal. The government is now requiring that a brick wall be built around the entire church for the children's safety. The church members are resourceful and willing to help build the wall, but the bricks need to be purchased. Recently, Blantyre was hit with one of the worst tropical cyclones in the history of the Southern Hemisphere, Cyclone Freddy. Although the church was not damaged, much of the area surrounding the building was devastated. Because of the aftermath of the storm, building the wall around the building is of utmost importance. We are currently raising funds for the bricks to build the wall. Total cost of the bricks: $2,500. Would you like to buy a brick, or two, or a few? Each brick costs $1.25 Ministry Website Most Recent Newsletter Center of Hope Project Page
